Help Wanted

Numbers We would like to accept more young people into the Group but are prevented from expanding because of a shortage of Leaders.
Leader Qualities Are you reliable? caring? trustworthy? enthusiastic? hard working?  If you can say "yes" to all of these, then perhaps you could be one of the adults who could help us give the young people a good time.
Ages Minimum age of 18 years to be a Section Assistant or Uniformed Leader.  Young Leaders are aged 14-18 years.
Contact If you would like to know more then contact us.

Scout Run Camps

Scout Leaders who have a Camping Permit are able to take Scouts to camp (indoors, at Scout sites or green field sites depending upon the permit).  Within the scope of their permit, Leaders can issue an Event Passport which allows Scouts to camp in small groups without an adult Leader.
Scout Leaders have to be very sure that the Scouts are responsible enough to do this for the health, safety and well being of the Scouts involved.  Any injuries / problems with a Scout run camp could impact not just that camp but the Scout Leader's own camp permit.
Within our Scout Troop the scheme will be run under the following initial conditions which may change as Scouts gain experience and demonstrate their responsibility:-
1. The Scout issued with the Event Passport has the Camper Badge or is being assessed for the badge.
2. All participants must be at least 12 years of age.
3. The number of participants is 3 or 4 Scouts, normally of the same gender.
4. All participants have the responsibility to accept the decisions and Leadership of the Scout with the Event Passport (who is mature enough to operate a sensible decision making process).
5. Scout run camps will only be for one night.
6. The camps must take place at a location where there is easy access to indirect supervision, e.g. the Scout HQ, Willesley (when there is a resident warden) or an approved local farm.
7. All participants have demonstrated the consistent implementation of the Scout Group's Code of Behaviour.
8. The Scouts have a planned programme (at the HQ this could include painting, developing this web site, maintaining the camp equipment, at other locations it could include a hike or the site's activities).
9. The participants are contactable by mobile phone.
