Fires |

Check equipment is sharp and safe to use |

Train Scouts in use of axes and saws, do not allow
Beavers and Cubs access to them |

Injuries from fires |
Train Scouts in the safe use of fires. Prohibit
practices such as removing lighted sticks. |

Limit access to fires by Beavers and Cubs to special
activities where there is sufficient supervision |

Prohibit games and running around fire areas |

Games |

Encourage fair play. Actively discourage foul play, by
exclusion from the game if needed. In particular,
tripping etc. should be prohibited |

In team games such as relays ensure there is sufficient
room for each team. Apply approaches to reduce
collisions such as all teams run in a clockwise
direction |

Injuries arising from HQ or equipment |
Ensure games space is clear of obstacles and other
impediments. Check equipment for obvious defects. |

General Mayhem |
Injury from general mayhem and mischief |
Plan programmes to eliminate opportunities for mayhem,
e.g. by ensuring an adult is available to run a game at
the start of the meeting or when an activity ends |

Promote opportunities for good behaviour such as reward
schemes, personal praise, competitions |

Night Time |

Ensure reflective items / lights used when on roads |
