Family Camp September 2007 - Beaudesert

We had a great time at our Family Camp - Camping, Coracles, Climbing Frame, Exploring, Geo Caching (treasure hunt), Kite Making, Model Making, Pioneering, Raft Making, Zip Wire, Beaudesert Scout Camp near Cannock Chase was a marvellous site.

District Centenary Camp 2007 - Willesley

Including the Beaver Day attendees there were 761 campers at the District Centenary Camp, it was marvellous.
The Centenary Cup competition ran throughout the camp for activities such as orienteering, air rockets, graffiti wall, floating boat, Scouting history quiz etc.  At the closing ceremony we were delighted to be announced as winners.  Afterwards we filled the cup with lilt and (after a quick risk assessment) everyone drank from it like World Cup winners.
The Black Hole was very popular, it was warm, dark and creepy. We ran the bouldering wall throughout the camp.  The adults had a go as well. We helped record a chant for the camp CD
The craft cabin was dry on a wet afternoon. Our ace cooking team did a marvellous job, we queued up outside the cook tent then ate in the marquee.
The climbing wall was very popular. We had to make a floating boat, ours won.  Winning this meant more to our boat builders than winning the Centenary Cup. The pedal karts were good, but the rain made the course very tough so the odd push was needed.
The Woodpeckers completed a lot of their Challenge 100 activities at camp including organising races and recording a rap.  Listen to our rap The spray paints on the graffiti wall were very popular. The hovercraft was great.

Pancake Night - February 2007

Twinlakes - November 2006

At one stage our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts were using all of the bumper boats on the lake.  Rides galore and you can just rush round again for more.
Marvellous adventure playgrounds.  One had a castle theme and included a giant slide. The caterpillar ride appealed to our younger members.
Master Blaster - compressed air guns firing soft balls at any human target. A fair distribution of labour - adults drive to and from Twinlakes, children drive at Twinlakes.
Trauma Tower - goes up, down and shakes you all about.  Shouting your head off is compulsory for the girls!!!!! Typical boys - crashing into each other!!!
Trainee JCB driver and engineer in operation? After consuming 35 pre-ordered hot meals we were ready for the fireworks before it was time to head home.

Pirates' Rampage - September 2006

Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts came together for a pirates evening.  At the start they were given bandanas and painted faces.  They were given a map with all the pirate activities and gained a pirate sticker as they went around them.

At Potshot Pete's pirates had to load crossbows and fire them at the enemy ships

At Cape Cannon missiles (bamboos) were loaded into the elasticated cannon and fired at ships. At the Lake Of Fire, pirates had to walk along the pole while under fire (see "cannon ball" in top right of picture) Pirates had to attack the Vile Village of Doom at full charge, brandishing swords and shouting a pirates curse.

At Last Man's Walk pirates had to walk the plank - not so easy when you are blindfolded and turned around 3 times. Blindfolded pirates had to crawl through the Tunnel Of Terror.

During some raids on towns, pirates have to batter down doors, so teamwork when charging with the battering ram is essential to obtain maximum effect.

Back at the pirates' lair of Tortuga, every pirate was issued with a drink of rum (well that's what the labels said!) and something to eat.
