District Night Hike & Troop Mini Camp
- Sat / Sun 26th / 27th April
|
| Meet at Willesley Scout Camp at 4.00 pm Saturday to
pitch camp. We will be busy getting camp set up
before the night hike, so make sure you eat before you
arrive at camp or bring a packed tea. |
| Night hike details |
| On Sunday morning we will have time for an activity
session, such as the potholing course, before we strike camp in readiness for a 12 noon
pick up. |
| This is a "free" camp paid for out of the monthly
subs. |

 |
We pitch camp at Willesley on the Thursday night.
We lay out our site so that each Patrol has its own
sleeping tents, kitchen area and fire place. At
camp each Patrol collects its own wood, lights its own
fires, chooses its own menu and cooks its own meals. |
 |
|
 |
There are lots of competitions at the camp:-
- Camp Gateway - we always build some form of
gateway / climbing frame so that we can have lots of
fun climbing over it. We reckon to have more
fun with ours than any of the other entries, we tend
to be one of the top 3 gateways as well.
- Camp Skills - a competition covering overall
camp skills.
- Cooking - very popular with our Scouts who
produce some amazing meals, last time one Patrol
cooked a traditional chicken roast while the other
Patrol cooked a chinese meal. We were
victorious at the last two camps.
- Sports - football, tug of war, air rifles, sedan
chair race, obstacle course etc.
|
 |
|
 |
There are also lots of other activities such as:-
Climbing and abseiling on the tower
Crate stacking - see how high you can go.
Camp fire - a camp fire with hundreds taking part is
great fun.
Full details of the programme are
attached |

The Beavers
always have a great time at the District Beaver and
Parent Camp. But that frequently seems to be
secondary to the absolutely fabulous time the parents
have.
But one thing
is absolutely essential - Parents must have a Scout
Group CRB clearance. To make sure that you are not
disappointed or left biting your nails hoping that the
clearance comes through in time, it is
recommended that you apply for your CRB form before the
end of January. |
 |
 |
We usually
camp with the Market Bosworth Beaver Scout Colony and
share the catering with them.
We turn up on
the Friday evening to pitch the camp, nip home for a
good night's sleep then return for the start of the camp
at 10.00 am Saturday. |
 |
 |
There are always loads of activities for everyone to
do. They are based upon a theme. Recent
themes were countries of the world and Disney. |
 |
|
|
|
|
|
|
| The District Air Rifle Team
Competition has been expanded to include an Archery Team
Competition - both competitions use the same team of 6
Scouts. Our heat is our normal Scout night but we
will meet at Willesley at 6.45pm. |
| Air Rifles |
Each Scout will shoot 6 pellets, all
scores aggregated for the team. |
| Archery |
Each Scout will shoot 6 pellets, all
scores aggregated for the team. |
| Other Activity |
We will be running additional
