Scouts Help Others

Our Scout Group likes to help others in a practical way that makes use of our expertise and equipment.  We achieve this by:-
Equipment Loans
  • Group marquee for the Church Garden Party and the Village Gala Day.

  • Tents and cooking gear when the Church youth group go to camp.

  • Mess Tent for use as a base during a charity run in Derby.

  • Barbecues for the Womens Institute BBQ.

Group Activities
  • Group Bonfire Night and other activities open to the whole family.
  • Brownies invited to the Group Pancake Night.
  • Other Scout Troops invited to join in our activities such as wide games and incident trails.
Beyond The Group
  • One of our Leaders organised the District Scout Night Hike.
  • A Leader was a member of the Activities Team at the Charnwood 2006 camp for 3,000 Scouts and Guides.

Help Received

Our Scout Group is very appreciative of the organisations that provide the Scout Group with support and assistance to enable us to develop.

Ashby and Coalville Scout District for the wonderful activities they run for our young people to enjoy.   www.willesley.org

The Co-operative Group

In 2006 the Co-operative Group's Community Fund financed a ground anchor, sports equipment and tents.

When the Scouts build bridges we need an anchorage at each end.  Unfortunately there are not always trees where we need them so the heavy duty ground anchor is really helpful. Help towards new tents always makes a difference.  It poured with rain on the Centenary Camp so the ample storage room and shelter were really fantastic. We have made such a lot of use of the cricket, rounders, hockey and volleyball equipment.  Leaders spend a lot of time planning and preparing activities, so few that do not need preparation are a real bonus.

The LloydsTSB Foundation for England and Wales who in 2004 financed tables, gas stoves, lego, hammabeads and kits for glass engraving, pyrography, woodwork.   www.lloydstsbfoundations.org.uk/
Tables are regularly used for arts and crafts, camps, IT and in this case music. A printer / scanner / copies has so many uses. Cooking on wood fires is our preference, but some camp sites do not allow them, so gas cookers are essential.
We love the outdoor activities, but when it is cold, dark and wet, craft activities come into their own and it is much easier to run exciting activities with tools.

Many people will recognise DSG International as the Dixons Group.  They gave us a voucher that we converted into digital cameras.   www.dsgiplc.com

Appleby Online Centre who have previously hosted our website and have also supplied internet facilities for the Scout Jamboree On The Internet in October.   www.applebyonline.org.uk

Plastic Omnium

Plastic Omnium Automotive Ltd. of Measham who provided us with slip resistant paint for the floor.
Business Integrity Strategies Ltd. a risk and data analysis consultancy that hosts this website  www.bisltd.org.uk

The company also donated a second hand laptop and assists with IT facilities
