Welcome to the 1st Appleby Magna with Measham Scout Group's Website
Location - We are an active Scout Group in North West Leicestershire, but we attract young people from Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire as we are so close to the border of these counties.  Measham is a former coal mining village and is just inside the National Forest boundary, while Appleby Magna is a traditional farming village a mile up the road.

History - The 1st Measham was first registered on the 27th December 1961.  The 1st Appleby Magna was registered on the 12th April 1972.  The 2 Groups merged in January 1999 to become the 1st Appleby Magna with Measham.

Activities - Each year the Scout Group provides 5,000 young person hours of fun, friendship and adventure for its members, with a huge range of activities including: - abseiling, air rifle shooting, athletics, barbecues, bell boating, bonfire night, bowling, camping, camp fires, canoeing, cooking, DIY, expeditions, glass etching, hiking, HQ decoration, junk modelling, karting, laser tag, leather craft, pancakes, quizzes, rafting, road safety, sailing, snorkelling, swimming, tree planting and village trails.
Membership - Perhaps this is why boys and girls travel from Appleby Magna, Austrey, Donisthorpe, Griffydam, Measham, Netherseal, No Man's Heath, Norton juxta Twycross, Packington, Snarestone and Twycross to attend activities.  Age Ranges
Membership Enquiries - The basic information about our Sections is on our Members Page.  It helps the admin if you bring a completed membership form the first week you join.  Always contact a Leader to check if we have room as we are over subscribed and run a waiting list.
